It wouldn’t be Friday the 13th without something scary, and nothing is more frightening than the conspiracy theory du jour. Proving that even when you’re gaining ground, it’s possible to take a few steps back, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) decided it was a good idea to spout off on Anderson Cooper’s show about the vast “terror babies” conspiracy. Wingnuttery at its finest, but even though it’s tempting to dismiss it completely, there is the problem of another theory – the Pandora one, as in Pandora’s Box. It’s unlikely that terrorists have come to the U.S. en masse with pregnant women, primarily to guarantee citizenship of their offspring. Honestly, the idea might not have occurred to them. But now that Gohmert and Cooper put it out there for all to see…. Guess that’s something for the parents out there to do with their kids. Make a time capsule with a piece of paper saying something about this little news clip, bury it, and set a date for it be dug up in say, 30 years. Let’s see if Gohmert was really nuts then, shall we?
